Following a troubling viral audio in which residents of the Eti-Osa community were threatened with not voting for the All Progressives Congress, APC in the upcoming election, the Lagos State Police Command announced on Saturday that a traditional ruler, one Baale, will be summoned for questioning.

The traditional ruler and one other individual could be heard in the audio instructing locals and businesses to vote for the All Progressives Congress or APC or leave the community.
He said that they wouldn’t be allowed to do business with residents unless they had their Permanent Voter Cards, or PVCs, and were ready to vote for the party.

“We are prepared for battle; Yes, I do not conceal it; You have heard everything from me. Lagos is located in Nigeria; There is Eti-Osa in Lagos; We have the Igbara community in Eti-Osa, and we are able to make our decision today by the grace of God in Igbara.
“Those who have their PVCs and are willing to vote for our party, the APC, will be friends with us and continue doing business with us. None less than that.

“Would you rather vote for the PDP or the Labour Party? Not here! We have never done this before, and we are doing this based on instructions,” he said in the audio. Elections have been coming and going.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Public Relations Officer, confirmed the audio to NAN and stated that the traditional ruler will be questioned.
He stated, “The Baale, the traditional ruler, will be invited for questioning.” It will not be permitted to intimidate voters.
“Everyone ought to have the right to vote for the candidate of their choice,”
