Posted by Two Nigerians were detained by the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) for attempting to send a box of cocaine worth $400,000 through the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC).
In a statement issued on Thursday, February 23, 2023, the anti-drug agency identified the suspects as Gift Obioha, 26, and Michael Emmanuel Ude, 33.
The statement states that Ude, of Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, was seized by CANU agents at GPOC on February 22. CA, who was attempting to send a package with multiple items in it.
The statement continued, “A subsequent search of the box was conducted in the presence of the said individual, which led to the discovery of a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.”
“The suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cocaine and weighed approximately 1.1 pounds, was escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with Michael Emmanuel Ude, 33 years old, a Nigerian national of Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara. 482g), which has a street value of $400,000 for Guy.
“An additional Nigerian national, Gift Obioha, 26, of Laing Avenue, Georgetown, was arrested following further investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
