Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, the former governor of Ondo State, was a “fearless soldier” and a “unwavering advocate” for his people, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led the nation in mourning his passing yesterday.
During the eulogy delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Owo, Ondo State, the president paid tribute to Akeredolu’s “indomitable legacy of national service.”
Spokesman for the Vice President Stanley Nkwocha praised Akeredolu as “a fearless soldier for his people” for his bravery, commitment, and steadfast position in a statement.
As a group, we face an inevitable truth as we meet together today: the seasons come and go, just like the tides in our life, and we all must pass through each one in our own time.
Also, we are reminded that our lives are fleeting, and that all we are is a speck in the wind. This moment is the final affirmation of the honorable routes walked by our beloved brother, and the pieces of us that remain are the decisions we make, the president remarked.
From his time as a lawyer to his crucial position as governor of Ondo State, Tinubu outlined Akeredolu’s life story. Noting, “There was no point in life where his voice shook in telling his truth,” he lauded his immense intelligence and the significant influence of his leadership. A tremendous void has been left outside of this community by his intense devotion; he was an exceptionally bright man.
