A man in Ogun was caught for setting his wife on fire, and he blames the Devil

Hassan Azeez, a 46-year-old man, has been arrested by the Ogun state Police Command on charges that he poured gasoline on his wife and set her on fire.

SP The state police command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement that the suspect was caught after the father of the victim filed a report at the Ibogun divisional headquarters. On October 22, 2022, the victim’s father said that her daughter, Olayinka Hassan, was set on fire by her husband over a small argument and that the victim, a mother of one, was taken to an Ibadan hospital.

When the DPO of the Ibogun division, CSP Samuel Oladele, heard about it, he quickly got his men together and went to the scene. But the suspect got away before they got there. Since then, police agents have been looking for him until the 22nd of January, when they finally caught him.

During questioning, the suspect who said he had run away to Benin Republic admitted to the crime but said the devil did it.

He said that he asked the victim to make him food, but the victim was busy washing clothes when he asked her to make him food. He went on to say that he was angry because he was hungry, and that anger made him pour gasoline on her and set her on fire.

When asked whose clothes she was washing, he admitted that they were his. Oyeyemi said.

The suspect has been sent to the state Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section for further investigation and possible prosecution.
