As violence erupted in Anambra communities, many were afraid to die

Unconfirmed deaths have been feared in the Omor and Anaku communities in the state of Anambra’s Ayamelum Local Government Area.

A village source claims that ten people were killed in Omor on Monday night; however, the specifics of the incident are still unclear as of the time this article was written.

Tochukwu Ikenga, a spokesperson for the police, stated that the deployment of security personnel to the area had improved life and property security in response to the incident.

He did, however, point out that the specifics of the incident were not yet clear due to the ongoing patrols and operations.

He stated, “The joint task force consisting of Police and military has been deployed to the area following the distress call received in the early hours of today, June 2, 2023, from Omor and Anaku in Ayamelum LGA.”

“The provision of law and order in the area has improved as a result of the presence of these security forces,” they say.

“In the meantime, the nature of the incident remains a mystery, patrols and operations continue, and the situation is being monitored.

“New developments will be announced.
