David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian-American artist who claims that having a blue passport has made traveling abroad simpler for him.
He claimed that because he holds an American passport, he always has an advantage when some of his band mates are having trouble getting their visas approved.
The musician, who was born in Atlanta, said that the American passport was worth more than $1,000,000.00.
In a recent interview with Omega, he made this claim.
Davido, on the other hand, emphasized how proud he was to be Nigerian.
“That aspect of my existence, being a foreign-born person, didn’t surface until I blew up. People mistook me for a Nigerian citizen. People only learned that I attended Alabama College and other similar institutions later in my career.
“I didn’t get introduced as an American musician in Nigeria, for example. Back home, I’ve been on the streets. The sole benefit was that I could travel whenever I pleased, including to America.
“As of right now, that blue passport is worth more than a million dollars, regardless of how much money you have.
“For instance, when we were planning a tour of Australia, it was really difficult to obtain the necessary paperwork because some of my band members were having issues with their passports.
But clearly, having a blue passport makes things a little simpler for me, he added.
