DHQ comments on an alleged coup against Tinubu’s government: “We won’t get involved

The Nigerian military is content, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), and no coup is being planned.

Speaking on Friday, Tukur Gusau, the director of defense information at DHQ, expressed disapproval of claims that the Nigerian military had welfare problems.

Gusau continued by saying that the widely-circulated study urged the military to meddle with the nation’s democracy.

We want to make it clear that the military prefers a democratic system and will not participate in any actions that undermine the nation’s arduously attained democracy.

“The AFN, under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, is determined to ensure complete subordination of the Armed Forces to constitutional authority under His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and will not be distracted from its roles that are well defined in the 1999 constitution (as amended),” the statement reads.
