The federal government and the labor unions agreed to meet again on June 19 to work out a plan for putting the resolutions they reached into action as the meeting came to a close on Monday.
At the conclusion of a meeting between labor and government representatives at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, who represented the government, confirmed this.
According to him, a seven-point decision was adopted during the meeting to lessen the impact on Nigerians of the termination of PMS’s subsidy.
“The Federal Government, the TUC, and the NLC shall establish a joint committee to review any proposed wage increase or award and to establish a framework and schedule for implementation.”
“The World Bank Financed Cash Transfer Scheme will be reviewed by the Federal Government, the TUC, and the NLC, who will recommend adding low-income individuals to the program.
According to Gbajabiamila, “The Federal Government, the TUC, and the NLC will work out the specific execution and timetable for the CNG conversion program that was previously agreed with Labor centers in 2021.
According to xanderetch, compressed natural gas, or CNG, is a fuel gas mostly made up of methane that has been compressed to less than 1% of its volume at regular atmospheric pressure.
It has the cleanest combustion currently available, requires less upkeep for vehicles, and extends engine life.
Gbajabiamila continued by saying that it was decided at the meeting to assess the problems impeding successful delivery in the education sector and to suggest solutions for their implementation.
The Federal Government and the Labor Centers are to study and establish the framework for finishing the nation’s refineries’ rehabilitation.
“The Federal Government offers a framework for national rail network expansion and road upkeep.
“The joint committee will evaluate all other demands submitted by the TUC to the Federal Government,” he stated.
He emphasized that the NLC has agreed to immediately suspend the notice of strike in order to facilitate additional talks, continue the ongoing engagements, and achieve resolution on the resolutions.
The NLC and TUC Presidents and Secretaries, as well as Ms. Kachollom Daju, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour Employment, all supported the motion.
An earlier court ruling obtained by the federal government barred Labour from starting a statewide strike on Wednesday.
