Governor Zulum laments the lack of Naira new notes in 25 LGAs in Borno

Babagana Umara Zulum, the governor of Borno State, revealed that 25 of the state’s 27 local governments do not have the new Naira notes.

He gave orders to the state’s ministries of higher education, science, technology, and innovation as well as finance to open ICT centers and branches of Borno’s existing microfinance bank throughout the 27 local government areas.

The directive from Zulum came after the Central Bank of Nigeria’s deadline of January 31 for the phase-out of the old naira notes.

During an unusual meeting with stakeholders on Wednesday in Maiduguri, the governor disclosed this information.

“Maiduguri and Biu are the only two LGAs that now offer banking services. Most local governments are too far from Maiduguri or Biu, respectively.

He bemoaned.

He continued by saying that public servants should take all possible measures to prevent the theft of taxpayer money.
