In order to keep an eye on Saturday’s elections, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sent officers to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The deployment, according to the anti-graft agency, is part of efforts to guarantee the integrity of the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25, 2023.
Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the EFCC, ordered the agents to act with a high level of professionalism and be aware of the nation’s interests.
Bawa stated that since they are on a national assignment, he expects them to behave appropriately in accordance with the commission’s values of courage, professionalism, and integrity.
“Ensure that the election is devoid of financial malpractices, especially inducement of voters,” the chairman stated.
In addition, the EFCC issued incident reporting hotlines for Abuja and the 36 states, urging citizens to report vote buying, selling, or other evidence of financial misconduct.
Using the EFCC’s financial crimes reporting app, Eagle Eye, members of the public can also report anyone trying to buy or sell votes.
