The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has once more distanced itself from those who want no election or a sit-at-home vote in the Southeast for the upcoming elections.

A statement issued on Thursday by the separatist group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, stated that the callers do not represent IPOB and are not members of the IPOB family.
“IPOB, under the command and leadership of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is illegally detained in DSS solitary confinement, once more unequivocally and publicly declare our lack of interest in the Nigeria fraudulent selection process called elections coming up in this month of February 2023,” the statement read.

“We have stated for the nth time that we have nothing to do with the elections in Nigeria, that we have neither called for nor intend to call for an election boycott during these forthcoming elections, and that we have nothing to do with the elections in Nigeria.
“Those calling for a “no election” and a “sit-at-home” vote during the election are just paid agents whose sole purpose is to attempt to portray our self-determination movement as an anti-democratic force and thus discredit it.

“Their intention is to provide the international community with an excuse to clamp down on our activities and IPOB leadership by laying the groundwork for the international community to view IPOB as opposed to a democratic process.
Because they are employed by the Federal Government, Nigeria’s security agencies have been silent regarding these double agents. The entire Nigerian security apparatus would have been ranting and threatening the entire Biafra land if IPOB had called for this sit-at-home election or not.
“We have continued to make this fact public, and the Nigerian media and some public commentators have purposefully continuously attributed the actions of these government-paid infiltrators to the noble IPOB movement for reasons best known to them.
We have distanced ourselves from the selection process known as Nigeria elections for this reason. We remain of the opinion that Nigeria is a fraudulent nation that cannot be saved, and that neither your vote nor the outrageously corrupt British company that is Nigeria can be changed.
“Our focus remains the unconditional release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in light of the Court of Appeal’s order to set a date for a referendum so that Biafrans can choose their political future.
“IPOB DOS and the leadership will make a landmark on Radio Biafra by Mazi Chinasa Nworu on Friday night on the issue of elections to tell Biafrans that we are not stopping anyone from performing his or her civic responsibility by voting for the person of your choice. IPOB did not order sit-at-home. Everyone should go out on these days criminals are mentioned as sit-at-home. IPOB is not against anybody coming out for elections. In Biafraland, there is no “sit-at-home” rule.
