Omokri advised Tinubu not to behave like Buhari and to give Emefiele the opportunity to defend himself

Reno Omokri, a sociopolitical activist, has urged President Bola Tinubu against incarcerating the arrested former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, without allowing him to present a defense. Godwin Emefiele was arrested.

Omokri suggested that Tinubu should give Emefiele the opportunity to respond to any allegations that have been made against him.

He warned Tinubu not to make the same error as the previous president, Muhammadu Buhari, who made the mistake of detaining people from the previous administration without giving them the opportunity to defend themselves.

Omokri asked the question, “Where is Godwin Emefiele?,” in a tweet. It is not appropriate for the Tinubu administration to throw him in jail and start making accusations against him in public. As soon as Buhari gained power in 2015, he immediately did this very thing to officials in the previous administration of Jonathan.

They were locked up, and while they were in custody, claims were made against them in an effort to turn the public against them. However, they were not given the opportunity to defend themselves.

“We had hoped that those trying times were in the past for us. Emefiele should be questioned and even accused, but he should be given the opportunity to defend himself against the rumors and innuendo first.

“Where can I find him? In accordance with what court order is he being detained? Let him speak to the people of Nigeria. After getting off to such a good start, it would be irresponsible for President Tinubu to carry on with the same harsh policies as his immediate predecessor. This is comparable to what Abacha did, which ultimately resulted in Tinubu being sent into exile in the year 1994.
