Posted by Governor Agbu Kefas has been urged by the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) in Taraba State to guarantee that members of their community are represented in his cabinet.
The group demanded the immediate creation of a Commission for the state’s disabled people while alleged mistreatment and neglect by the previous Darius Ishaku administration.
Saiq Mohammed, the State Chairman of the Association, urged that a member of the handicap community serve as the Commission’s head when it is constituted in a statement to the xanderetch.
Mohammed claimed the difficulties faced by PWDs in the state would have been reasonable if the previous administration had supported them. He then took our reporter back in time to recall how his members had been neglected under the COVID-19.
No other group of people can better represent us in government than our members, so in addition to the disabilities Commission, we are requesting that our members be nominated as Commissioners and Special Advisers.
Mohammed asserted that the group has qualified members with master’s degrees in a variety of professions who can only help the state develop if they are acknowledged and supported.
Aliyu Mohammed, the association’s secretary, expressed regret that only 8 of the state’s more than 22,000 PWDs had been hired into the government service.
He asked the current governor to maintain a close relationship with the populace, especially persons with disabilities.
