According to Prof. Kailani Muhammad, director-general of the Confederation of All Progressives Congress Support Groups (CASG), at least 6,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, this betrayal shows that Nigerians are finally realizing that the APC, in its revived
Muhammad, who welcomed the decampees at a ceremony yesterday at Abuja’s Unity Fountain, stated that while the decampees’ actions may be seen as insignificant, they represent a critical step toward Nigeria’s democratic growth, according to political observers.
“The event of receiving these Nigerians into the APC fold is a clear signal and an indication that Nigerians are waking up to the reality that the APC is the only party that offers hope in its renewed hope agenda to the Nigerian populace,” Kailani stated categorically, adding that the task ahead is enormous.
This is due to the fact that our political future has been obscured by some quirks over the years, necessitating a combined dose of bravery to face the difficulties. Nevertheless, we can overcome all of these challenges.
“The APC-led government of President Bola Tinubu has devised measures to overcome the obstacles impeding the much-desired socio-economic and political growth in the country, thus we are reassuring Nigerians that these challenges are surmountable.
“We promise Nigerians that, with the human resources at our disposal and the support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, we will revamp our economic structure and revitalize our security architecture. With these tools, we will emerge stronger,” Kailani declared, promising the decampees that they would work together to create a better nation.
They promised that with the help of ordinary Nigerians, their party will create a country of which they can be justifiably proud.
