President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has discussed the steps that his administration plans to take to alleviate the hardships that have been imposed on Nigerians as a result of the termination of gasoline subsidies.
On Monday, Tinubu revealed this information to Nigerians as they were honoring Democracy Day through his live broadcast.
You may remember that not too long ago, the government under Tinubu abolished fuel subsidies, which led to an increase in the price of fuel at the pump from N197 per litre to almost N500 per litre.
Tinubu, on the other hand, pleaded for Nigerians to bear the temporary suffering, emphasizing that his government will eventually bring relief.
He claims that in order to mitigate the negative effects of the loss of fuel subsidies, the government will make significant investments in public transportation infrastructure, education, reliable electricity sources, healthcare, and other public services.
“It is with great difficulty that I have asked you, my fellow citizens, to make additional sacrifices for the sake of the continued existence of our nation. Because you have put your faith and trust in us, I want to reassure you that the sacrifice you make will not be in vain.
“The government I lead will repay you by making massive investments in transportation infrastructure, education, regular power supply, healthcare, and other public utilities that will improve the quality of lives,” he stated. “These investments will improve the lives of people everywhere.”
