Posted by Jude Idimogu, who represents Oshodi Isolo Constituency 2 in the Lagos House of Assembly, claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the goal of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Godwin Emefiele’s introduction of the naira note swap program.
The member who said it was the wrong time to put the redesigned naira into circulation said that the country needed a gradual change until the old notes were taken out of circulation, not a big change that is causing a lot of trouble for the people.
He added that the CBN governor had a dark goal behind the strategy and questioned why Emefiele was so worried about the money outside.
He stated, “The so-called policy is targeted specifically at Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with due respect to Emefiele, this happens to be a wrong-time policy targeted at Asiwaju, and I urge the CBN governor not to punish the populace because of my efforts to put politicians in a tight spot.
“Since Nigeria has a cash-based economy, implementing a cashless policy should be done gradually.” Considering that the network is down and not helping the situation, it is important to consider the hundreds of millions of people who would be impacted before implementing any policy.
“It is an offensive policy; if Emefiele is aware of the state of the economy, why is he in a rush to meet the deadline?” In other parts of the world, these kinds of policies are put into place slowly, and most of the affected currency is held by banks.
Why should we care so much about the 52 trillion dollars that have been printed if 90% of them are circulated within the financial system unless there are other, more sinister reasons?
