The National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), according to Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, has helped 15 million families so far.
On Tuesday, the minister gave a speech in Abuja at the 23rd installment of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s scorecard series.
Since its inception in 2016, the program, according to her, has had a positive impact on the lives of millions of Nigerians.
She claims that the program has been the most important tool in improving the lives of the country’s poorest citizens.
Millions of Nigerians have received assistance and hope through the NSIP. She continued, “Let me once more list them as the government enterprise and employment program, the national conditional cash transfer, the national homegrown school feeding program, and the job creation unit.”
The minister said that the Federal Government started all of the programs as part of an intervention plan to help vulnerable Nigerians’ welfare and well-being.
She explained that the National home-grown school feeding program had already fed over 9.9 million students in the 36 federation states, including the FCT.
According to Umar Farouk, the ministry conducted quarterly impact assessments by independent monitors to guarantee efficient service delivery.
She stated that the goal of the National Senior Citizens Centre was to identify the requirements of senior citizens and provide for them, particularly in terms of their health and physical well-being.
“The center has also begun the implementation of a National Policy on Aging, which includes high-level technical support programs and activities, as well as a 10-year strategic plan.
She stated that the N-Power Program supported over 1.5 million youths in Nigeria who were unemployed.
The minister stated that the ministry had overseen the distribution of aid to victims of the recent food disaster nationwide.
She reaffirmed her commitment to safeguarding the dignity of Nigerians who are most at risk.
