2023: Wike says that APC governors are Nigeria’s heroes

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has made numerous attempts to defect from the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Despite his position that the South should be given the presidency, he has called the rumors that he is affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) “speculative.”

The Ikwere politician, who has previously had disagreements with his PDP party, insisted that he is still a firm PDP supporter.

At the 114th quarterly general meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt on Monday, the governor made this statement.

He stated, “I am not and will not be an APC member.” However, they have convinced me that they are this nation’s heroes.

He recalled how, during the primary elections, the governors of the ruling party, particularly those from the north, insisted that power must be transferred to the south.

He continued, “The governors of APC said the county is the way it is, they want the unity of this country, so the presidency should go to the South.”

The Rivers helmsman, who has declared war on his party’s presidential candidate, appears to be working with the APC and its national candidate.

Since the main opposition party’s presidential primary resulted in his defeat, Wike and his party have been at odds.

Since May 2022, when Atiku Abubakar was declared the party’s primary election winner, the governor, who had stated that he would collaborate with the winner, has been displeased.
