Arewa Youths Allegedly Arrested by Akpabio in an Attempt to Deflect Attention Away from His EFCC Case

According to the Arewa Youths Forum (AYF), Senator Godswill Akpabio’s attacks on Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), are nothing more than an effort to deflect attention away from his case before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In response to remarks supposedly made by Akpabio, the youth body of the northern region stated that the Bola Tinubu administration is at a loss as to what crime to bring charges against Emefiele for in court.

In a statement signed by its Acting National Secretary, Isa Dangaziya, the Forum stated that in more moral times, individuals with alleged corruption, such as the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, should be either imprisoned or ashamed to be publicly seen.

Arewa Youths questioned why individuals like Akpabio, who allegedly stole from Akwa Ibom and the country as minister of Niger Delta affairs, are now blaming others for Nigeria’s economic woes and have even faced charges from anti-graft agencies.

Adams Oshiomhole had previously stated that Akpabio’s “sins have been forgiven since joining APC,” so he should “allow Emefiele breath in the words of President Tinubu” and refrain from using him to appear sanctimonious and curry favor, since many Nigerians are already aware of his corrupt status.

“We received with rude shock, the comments attributed to Akpabio attributing the current economic hardship and hunger in Nigeria to the actions and policies implemented during Emefiele’s tenure at the apex bank. In essence, he is one of those who milked Nigeria dry and is still milking Nigeria dry. Amazingly, they are walking freely despite humongous corruption allegations. ” they added.
