Posted by Dr. Abiye Sekibo, the Director General of the People’s Democratic Party’s Campaign Council in Rivers State, escaped being assassinated on Thursday ahead of the PDP presidential campaign rally in the state.
On Thursday night, at Rainbow Town in Port Harcourt, gunmen dressed in police uniforms opened fire on the Land Cruiser bulletproof jeep of the campaign DG, according to reports.
When the gunmen attacked his vehicle, he was on his way to the proposed location of the party’s presidential rally.
At a news conference on Friday, Sekibo confirmed the incident by stating that his car was riddled with bullets and that the proposed rally site was set on fire while police watched.
“The police officers who were watching the fire opened fire on our vehicle as we approached the site.
“When I looked at the Hiluxes, I saw that they were police Hiluxes that belonged to the Governor of Rivers State,” the person said.
