Atiku tells INEC to remove Lagos’ REC before the elections because of his recent comments about MC Oluomo

Atiku Abubakar has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fire Olusegun Agbaje, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lagos State, with 16 days left until the 2023 general election.

Atiku stated that Agbaje had been accused of trying to influence the forthcoming election.

He said that the REC was trying to undermine the election by insisting that the Lagos State Park and Garage Management Committee, led by Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, carry sensitive election materials.

Atiku, speaking through Phrank Shaibu, his Special Assistant on Public Communication, denied Agbaje’s explanation of why INEC would use MC Oluomo’s organization to transport sensitive materials.

The INEC REC had stated that the commission would utilize MC Oluomo’s transportation company because other organizations were prohibited from entering Lagos State.

According to Shaibu’s statement,

“In Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unilaterally announced a ban on the NURTW’s activities due to the organization’s suspension of MC Oluomo, the APC’s henchman.

“INEC must not collaborate with a partisan organization comprised of APC members working for Bola Tinubu to promote illegality.”

According to the statement, distributing sensitive election materials to MC Oluomo’s boys for distribution in Lagos State would undermine a free and fair election in 2023.

He added, “INEC must sanction Mr. Agbaje for insisting on using MC Oluomo’s committee despite public protests.”
