The Nigerian Medical Association, or NMA, chapter in Benue State has called off the indefinite strike it announced on Friday in response to the kidnapping of their colleague Dr. Asema Msuega in the Ukum Local Government Area.
This was said in a statement made during its emergency general meeting, which took place on Saturday in Makurdi.
The NMA expressed its extreme joy at the liberation of their colleague from the captivity of his kidnappers and ordered their coworkers who were assigned to the Ukum LGA flashpoint of violence to evacuate their job posts until further notice.
The association is evaluating the situation, the statement continued, and will give further instructions as soon as feasible.
The statement, which was signed by the secretary, Dr. Ameh Godwin, recognized the members’ sacrifices during the tough time and the public’s understanding, both of which were essential to Msuega’s release.

Msuega, who works at the Ukum General Hospital in Zakibiam, was reportedly released from her captors on Friday night after a month and three days as a result of intense pressure from security forces closing in on their hiding place, according to reliable sources who spoke to xandertech.
