Benue PDP Campaign DG Arrested by EFCC with N100,000

Cletus Tyokyar, Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council, was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

In the early hours of Saturday, the PDP chieftain was said to have been detained for having some money in his possession.

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom stated that the party DG campaign was detained within the local government, confirming the arrest.

He claimed that the anti-graft agency was a destabilizing force, claiming that a $10,000 pantry note was found on him.

It’s a pity that the EFCC officials arrested our DG campaign this morning in Guma because they only found N100,000 on him.

The EFCC is turning into a destabilizing force. Why should they choose someone for N100,000? I have more than that personally.

After casting his vote at his polling unit R16 in the Government Science and Technical College, Gbanjimba, headquarters of the Guma local government area, Ortom addressed the media and expressed his disappointment that the entire council ward had to be relocated to polling units in the area due to security concerns in other parts of the state.

The college had at least 17 polling stations inside its walls.

The governor gave the Independent National Electoral Commission praise for how the election was conducted and how many people showed up in the state.

Bayo Adeniran, the state’s EFCC spokesman, stated that the case was under investigation when contacted.

He sent a text message that read, “The case is under investigation, please.”
