Festus, the captain of Rivers United, retires and accepts a new position

Ahead of the upcoming season, Rivers United defender Austine Festus announced his retirement from professional football.

The club has recently appointed the former team captain of the Nigeria Professional Football League champions as the new team coordinator.

Forward The hard-hitting defender’s replacement as the club’s captain in Port Harcourt is Nyima Nwagua.

Festus had a history of injuries in recent campaigns.

The center-back did not play a single game for the team all of the previous year.

On Monday morning, Rivers United made the announcement about his hiring on their official Twitter account.

Festus Austin has been named our new Team Coordinator, and we are thrilled to announce this.

“Austin, a loyal and solid center-back during his playing days, takes on the new position ahead of the new season after serving as our captain with diligence.
