Hakeem Odumosu clarifies his decision to become the EFCC chairman

Hakeem Odumosu, a retired assistant inspector general of police (AIG), has refuted rumors that he was named the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) substantive chairman.

The Senate must confirm Odumosu’s appointment, according to reports that surfaced on Tuesday.

Recall that the former anti-corruption agency chairman was suspended by President Bola Tinubu for improper conduct while in government.

The Department of State Services (DSS) later invited Bawa for questioning.

Odumosu, however, denied being aware of such an appointment in a statement that he published and signed on Wednesday.

He referred to the appointment’s distribution as false and advised Nigerians to ignore the rumor.

“Good morning to all of you. Between yesterday and today, I’ve received a ton of calls and mails about an alleged “EFCC Appointment”. I just want to take this chance to refute this information and declare that it is entirely false.

He declared, “This information must have come from troublemakers and should be completely disregarded.”
