Posted by Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has ordered the immediate suspension of Alhaji Musa Achuja, the chairman of the Ajaokuta Traditional Area Council and the Ohi of Eganyi.
The governor further instructed that the Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba, be questioned about the breach and should reply within 24 hours in a letter to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kogi State.
According to reports, a security team assembled by the Divisional Police Officer of the Ajaokuta Divisional office in response to an intelligence report of suspected bandits invading farms and engaging in illegal activities in the area was ambushed on Saturday, killing three police officers and five members of the local vigilante group.
This was said in a statement made on Sunday by Mohammed Onogwu, the governor’s chief press secretary.
According to Onogwu, “the governor strongly warned other traditional rulers across the state who may have connections with criminal elements in their domains in some way or another to desist forthwith, saying that his administration will deal ruthlessly with anybody who romances with criminal elements no matter how highly placed they are.”
In the same line, Governor Bello issued a directive restricting the local government council chairmen’s travel outside of their home territory and other unauthorized trips.
