Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea has agreed terms on a new contract with the club and is expected to sign shortly, the UK Telegraph reports.

The 32-year-old’s current deal expires this summer, although United have the option to extend it for another 12 months.

No goalkeeper has more Premier League clean sheets than De Gea this season, but he has made a number of errors.

All three of the goals United conceded as they exited the Europa League in the second leg of their quarter final tie with Sevilla came from De Gea errors.

Their recent 1-0 defeat to West Ham also came from a goalkeeping mistake.

Erik ten Hag wants to keep the Spaniard though, but United are not believed to have used the extension in De Gea’s existing contract, as it would have meant maintaining his £350,000-a-week salary.

It is believed he has taken a “significant wage cut” in exchange for a longer deal with incentives for matches played.
