MC Oluomo writes to INEC and asks that his transporters be allowed to pass out election materials

Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, is in charge of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee. He has written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, which is in charge of elections, to ask that his members be allowed to distribute sensitive election materials and drive election officials on election day.

The appeal was made in a letter the union sent to INEC in January 2023. It said that the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) had been suspended and that INEC should stop working with them.

The letter says, “The Lagos State Parks and Garages Management (LASPG) wants you to know that Lagos State and some other states, like Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and some others, are no longer part of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) when it comes to transportation. But under the laws of the different states, Parks and Garages.

“Our letter of notification and request is important so that there won’t be any technical or administrative problems with getting election materials and workers to and from all polling places in the states listed above during the upcoming 2023 General Election. If these problems aren’t fixed quickly, they could affect the day of the election.

“We, the Lagos State Parks and Garages, under the leadership of Alhaji (Dr.) Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, request that INEC look into this information. At the same time, we ask that all transportation arrangements in Lagos State be brought to our attention, since NURTW has stopped working in Lagos State.”
