Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, claims that the initial unrest in the Mile 12 region of Lagos State has been contained.
The area’s free mobility has been restored, according to the PRO of the state police.
Due to a lack of new naira notes and the difficulties the policy has caused citizens, fighting broke out in some locations on the busy Lagos-Ikorodu motorway in Lagos State.
It was learned that suspected louts attacked commuters and caused chaos on the expressway in the Mile 12, Ketu, and Ojota areas.
A driver who works for one of the state’s cab companies and does not want his name published for fear of being harassed said he had to turn into one of the streets because of the chaos.
Tweeps who shared information about the ongoing conflict in the area claimed to have heard gunshots.
However, Hundeyin, who initially confirmed the unrest, has now stated that the area has regained its sense of normalcy and that men from the Lagos State Police Command are on the ground to prevent any further disruptions to law and order.
He wrote, “Free movement of vehicles and people fully restored,” making this known via his Twitter handle. Our soldiers and officers are still present on the ground to maintain law and order.
Additionally, Hundeyin retweeted a tweet from a Twitter user confirming that the region has regained its sense of normalcy.
“Road is clear now, na there I pass now to Ikorodu,” the tweet read.
