Senator Bassey Otu, the governor of Cross River State, has chosen Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche, the head of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Abuja, as his chief press secretary.

A letter of appointment dated June 6, 2023, with the signature of Dr. Innocent Eteng, Permanent Secretary General Administration in the Office of Secretary to the State Government, stated thus.

Governor Otu focused on appointing important members of his government in the early days following his inauguration.

Otu named Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, the former vice chancellor of the University of Cross River State, as secretary to the state government in the same letter that appointed Ogbeche.

The governor has made the decision to charge top-notch security officers with overseeing state security operations.

Senior Special Adviser for State Security is Major General Okoi Ubi Obono (retired). Security concerns in the three senatorial districts will be under the control of Commander Patrick Odiong, Achu Ben Olayi, and Assistant Inspector General of Police John Abang (rtd).

Charles Ikpeme, who will lead the Special Taskforce on Anti-Deforestation, and Emmanuel Ironbar, who will serve as his chief of staff, are other significant appointments that Governor Otu has approved with immediate effect.
