According to the Arewa Think Tank, which had previously urged President Bola Tinubu in mid-November 2023 to prevent fifth columnists from bringing shame on his administration during foreign trips and in the country’s power corridors, the recent leak of secret presidential memos proves that the think tank was correct.
Since then, the president has ordered an audit of the government agency structure to root out what it calls “moles” who support the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, the Chief Convener of the Arewa Think Tank, recalled that in November of last year, when President Tinubu was under fire from critics who claimed that his visit to Saudi Arabia was a waste of time and money, the group advised him to reconsider.

According to Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the government must act to find and remove those who are leaking secret papers and are thought to be loyal to the opposition.
Worryingly, a document prepared by the SGF to the President and bearing the president’s signature came out, according to Onanuga. This proves that there are some dissidents working for the government.
