Posted by On Tuesday, party leaders gathered at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, to begin the meeting of the BoT.
A common view is that the BoT acts as the party’s conscience.
Attendees in the meeting were Adolphus Wabara, who is currently serving as chairman of the PDP BoT, Ahmed Makarfi, who was governor of Kaduna State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who was governor of Osun State, and Kabiru Turaki, who was minister of special duties.
Former PDP deputy national chairman Shuaibu Oyedokun and former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido are among the other party officials in attendance.
On Monday, the PDP Governors Forum, headed by Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, urged the opposition party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to quickly initiate the necessary procedures to call meetings of the party’s relevant organs, including the Caucus and the National Executive Council meetings.
The governor’s action was in response to a lawsuit filed by party chieftain Segun Showunmi, who was upset that the NWC hadn’t called the quarterly meeting of the NEC—the PDP’s second-highest decision-making body. He had griped about how long it had been since the meeting had taken place.
