Peter Obi Criticizes Arrest Procedure Against Abure

During Wednesday’s arrest of the party’s national chairman, Mr. Julius Abure, Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, voiced his displeasure with the way the Nigeria Police operatives handled the situation.

To “show we are… in a democracy,” Obi remarked on his X handle platform that the party chieftain’s detention might have been handled better.

“Like many Nigerians, I saw the disgusting national news broadcasts on the shameful arrest of Barrister Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, in Benin City, Edo.

“As a private citizen, public person, governor, and presidential candidate, I have always argued that a reasonable society must defend the rule of law.

Ignoring calls from legitimately established authorities is a grave sin on the part of any person, in my opinion.
