Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the largest Igbo social and cultural organization, has said that it will not take back its earlier support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.
In an interview with Leadership, Alex Ogbonnia, the national publicity secretary of the group, insisted that Ohanaeze as a whole is behind Obi.
He says that, of all the presidential candidates running in the upcoming elections, the LP candidate stands out.
“Obi’s support for Ohanaeze is final, and every other Igbo man or woman is also a member.
“Obi has the support of well-known Igbos. He is the result of his life. He stands out from the other candidates for president.
He also denied rumors that Obi is only popular on social media, saying that Obi is very well-liked by Nigerians, especially young people.
He said that the youths strongly support Obi and that, to show how much they like the LP candidate, the youths have decided to get their PVCs so they can vote for him.
