Roberto Mancini steps down as manager of Italy

Roberto Mancini, a former manager of Manchester City, has resigned as manager of Italy.

The Italian Football Federation issued a statement on Sunday that included the following sentence: “The Italian Football Federation announces that it has taken note of Roberto Mancini’s resignation from the position of coach of the Italian national team, received yesterday late in the evening.”

Additionally to finishing third in the Nations League in 2021 and earlier this year, Mancini led the Italian national team to win at Euro 2020.

On September 10 and 12, Italy will play North Macedonia and Ukraine as they attempt to qualify for Euro 2024.

They currently hold the third spot in their qualifying group after beating Malta in March and losing to England in February.
