Seun Kuti: Why I Called Peter Obi an “Opportunist”

Posted by

Seun Kuti, a well-known Nigerian afrobeat singer, has explained why he called Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi an opportunist.

Keep in mind that the singer and one of the Psquare duo’s members, Peter Okoye, were at odds recently over social media.

Okoye was enraged by Kuti’s slur against Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Kuti reiterated his statements in an interview with Arise TV, adding that Obi simply recognized an opportunity and seized it.

Even if Peter Obi wins the election in 2023, he said, he would have to deal with a “hostile” government.

Kuti stated, “From the beginning, people were angry because I said he was an opportunist, but in the right sense, that’s what happened; he saw an opportunity and he took it.”

Kuti continued his discussion of Peter Obi by stating that opportunism only works in business and not politics.

Opportunism is wonderful in business. When you see an opportunity in business, you seize it,” he stated.

But if you want to advance in politics, you have to find opportunism.

“We’ve carried out this whole change business that has no substance.

“When we Nigerians are serious about doing business and want to, we will do the business on our own.”
