Shettima says Northerners should vote against Atiku in the presidential contest because he opposes Sharia

Kashim Shettima, Kashim Shettima’s running mate for president of the All Progressives Congress, has outlined the reasons why Northerners should not support Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for president of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Shettima advised Northerners to abandon Atiku because of his opposition to the North’s Islamic legal system.

During a conversation with APC supporters at the party’s local government conference in Daura, Katsina State, he made the call.

At the polls on February 25, the APC presidential running mate urged Northern voters to reject Mr. Abubakar due to his opposition to Sharia.

Shettima claims that:

“This person you claim to be your own tells you that you should call him Atiku Abubakar rather than “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

“Your person claims that he is the only one who opposes Sharia in the North. Is that someone you know?”
