According to Timothy Owoeye, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, the House passed 32 bills and 38 resolutions overall while he was in office.
According to Owoeye, the accomplishment was noted over the course of the 7th Assembly’s four years.
The state governor, Ademola Adeleke, had reportedly declared the dissolution of the 7th Osun State House of Assembly and the proclamation of the 8th Assembly, according to DAILY POST.
In a farewell speech read by his media assistant Kunle Alabi, Owoeye expressed his gratitude to the people of Osun, the executive branch of government led by Adegboyega Oyetola and Ademola Adeleke, as well as the judiciary, for their assistance and understanding during his tenure as Speaker of the 7th Assembly.
The announcement reads, “The 7th Assembly, which was formally inaugurated on Thursday, 6th June 2019, saw the passage of 38 resolutions and a total of 32 bills into law.
The State of Osun Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps Establishment Bill and the State of Osun Anti-Kidnapping and Other Related Crimes Bills are noteworthy among the bills that were signed into law, along with the Osun Youth Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, the University of Ilesa, Ilesa (Establishment) Bill, the State of Osun Environmental Protection Bill, and others.
We created a legislative agenda at the beginning of the 7th Assembly that includes Quality Legislation, Effective Oversight, Accountable and Democratic Assembly, E-p Parliament, Effective Public Engagement, and Legislative Research Center. This legislative program was made public and served as the 7th Assembly’s overarching principle.
“We delivered on quality legislation for the benefit of our citizens, as well as efficient oversight on a number of development projects in order to get the most bang for the buck and guarantee transparency, accountability, and probity in the implementation of public initiatives.
“We conducted all of our plenary sessions, executive sessions, and committee meetings over the course of this four-year period without any rancor, earning us the distinction of being one of Nigeria’s most tranquil houses of assembly.”
In addition to thanking his colleagues on a successful four years in office, Owoeye asked the people of Osun and other branches of government for assistance in the next 8th Assembly in the state.
