Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State, has authorized the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally to take place at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt.

At a news briefing on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, State Coordinator of the APC Campaign Council Tony Okocha made the announcement. He also said that the rally on February 15, 2023, is to get votes for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Party’s flagbearer.

According to the head of the APC, Wike gave his blessing to the use of the stadium without the campaign council paying the N5 million fee required by Executive Order 21.

“Wike, in his usual benevolence, has approved the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt, as an alternative location for the presidential campaign rally that will take place on February 15, 2023, completely free of charge.

“But subject to the issuance of a written guarantee of the safety and security of the facilities at the venue due to the violence recorded at the party’s recent rallies in the state,”

Okocha said that everything was set up to get Tinubu and other top APC leaders into the state and have a smooth rally.

He revealed that an eleven-member committee had been established to coordinate and ensure the rally’s successful hosting, and he added that the state campaign committee had conducted research to ensure Tinubu’s victory.
