There are five things you should know about Folashodun Shonubi, who is currently serving as acting Governor

Mr. Godwin Emefiele was removed from his position as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with immediate effect on Friday, according to a statement released by President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu also gave Emefiele the instruction to immediately turn over the operations of his office to the Deputy Governor of the Operations Directorate, who goes by the name of Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi.

He stated that Shonubi will serve as the acting Governor of the CBN till the investigation and reforms are brought to a conclusion.

2. The University of Lagos awarded him a Master of Science degree in both Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering, and he possesses both of these degrees.

3. He has worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years, and from 2012 until 2018, he served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System PLC.

4.Shonubi served as the Executive Director of Information Technology and Operations at Union Bank of Nigeria Plc. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for Union Homes and the Director of Information Technology and Corporate Services at Renaissance Securities Nigeria Limited, where he was responsible for the Group’s IT infrastructure in Africa.

5.Between the years 1999 and 2007, he worked as the Deputy General Manager of MBC International. Prior to that, he held positions at First City Monument Bank Limited as Vice President and Ecobank Nigeria Limited as Executive Director.
