Some polling places in the Oshodi and Itire areas of Lagos were besieged by scores of armed criminals, who set some ballot papers and boxes on fire.
On Saturday, the robbers, all of whom were clad in black and wearing masks, arrived in the area around 11.30 a.m.
Some voters were injured because they were unable to flee when the thugs arrived.
After some security personnel on election duty left their duty post, sources said the armed thugs later went around the area.
Tajudeen Haruna claims that a few minutes later, the thugs opened fire, scaring away voters.
He stated, “The thugs later set the ballot box and some materials on fire.”
In a similar vein, at around 12 p.m., a group of criminals stormed the Itire area, scaring away voters from the various polling units in the area.
Access furthered James Nwoke’s claim that it was an intentional effort to deny non-indigenous people the right to vote in the state.
In the meantime, on Saturday, there will be a significant presence of the military and police in the city of Lagos to keep things under control.
At the same time, young men made football fields out of the Agege Motor Road, Apapa-Oshodi, Okota, and a portion of the Ago Palace Way.
Due to the fact that some voters were unable to locate their polling locations, there is also a palpable sense of tension in the majority of Ago, Isolo, and Ire-Akri.
