We are still healing from the effects of the Owo terror assault, says Akeredolu

The terror assault in Owo on June 5, 2022, was described as a sad incident that destroyed the state’s government and populace by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

Akeredolu said that the tragedy that transpired in Owo Kingdom when innocent worshipers were attacked at St. Francis Catholic Church would always be remembered by the state.

The Governor pondered on the atrocity that occurred a year ago and resulted in the deaths of 41 people and numerous injuries in a statement that was signed by his chief press secretary, Richard Olatunde.

He bemoaned that a black Sunday resulted from the evildoers’ invasion of the tranquil area of Owo land and the killing of innocent worshippers.

The Governor stated that even a year after the occurrence, they were still in mourning and that the wounds left by the severe blow they had taken will always serve as a reminder of their suffering and the losses they had suffered.

He said that the assault, in which the Church of God was desecrated and transformed into a killing slab, was a horrific act that could take place in any culture.
