We’ll be honest about governmental policy, Idris said

Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, has promised Nigerians that he will inform them of the truth on official plans and initiatives.

The Minister of Tourism addressed during a gathering held at the National Press Centre in Abuja to welcome him and the Ministers of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

Alhaji Idris said the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation will be open, honest, and accountable in its public dealings when he returned to work at Radio House, the Ministry’s headquarters, on Monday.

He reassured Nigerians of his commitment to seeing that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda succeeds.

In addition to disseminating information, he highlighted that national orientation will be at the center of the Ministry’s responsibility. He warned Nigerians against spreading false information and urged journalists to double-check their sources before disseminating their stories.

He said, “We will always respond to your questions, but kindly do not share fake news.”

In the next days, the Ministry would present its objectives to its stakeholders, he added, and he pleaded for assistance, particularly from the media.

Barr. Hannatu Musawa, minister of arts, culture, and the creative economy, stated in her remarks that the ministry she oversees will position Nigeria for greatness through culture and the creative industry. She emphasized her passion for advancing this industry to the point where it can compete with the oil sector.

Also speaking, Ms. Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism, promised that her Ministry will take advantage of the nation’s enormous tourism potential to bring in money for the government.

Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, the Permanent Secretary of the former Ministry of Information and Culture, which gave rise to the three ministries, promised the cooperation of the administration, employees, and agencies of the ministries to help the three Ministers carry out their missions.
