Kylian Mbappe, the captain of France, created history on Monday when he scored during his team’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Greece.
At the Stade de France, France overcame Greece 1-0 thanks to a goal by Mbappe.
After scoring his 54th goal against Greece, one more than the late great Just Fontaine’s total from 1958, the Paris Saint-Germain front has now passed him to become France’s all-time leading goal scorer in a single season.
The 24-year-old scored France’s winning penalty on his second attempt, defeating Greece.
In addition, it was his 40th overall goal in 70 appearances for France.
As a result, Les Bleus have won their first four Euro 2024 qualifiers and are now in a strong position to secure a spot at the European Championships being held in Germany.
