This was the decision reached during the union meeting, which finished in the early hours of Monday morning, according to sources within the NEC (August 1, 2022).
Despite the minister of education’s assurances to President Muhammadu Buhari that the strike would end, the union, according to sources, has not heard from him.

“To be completely honest, there was no progress achieved when we examined the previous steps. The minister has not at all gotten in touch with us. No one has contacted us.
According to a source within the NEC who wished to remain unnamed, “I can affirm that calling off the strike is not even up for consideration.” This source told our correspondent on Monday morning.
