As a member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Seidu Baba has distanced the Forum from supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as a consensus candidate.

During a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, Baba made this revelation.
He stated that despite the former vice president’s efforts to be the sole North candidate, NEF has not endorsed him.

He claims that the NEF’s intention for its tenth anniversary was not to endorse Atiku as the preferred North candidate.
He stated:

“Atiku lacks the credentials necessary to run for president solely from the Northern region.
The fact that Atiku tried to persuade or even force the NEF to adopt him demonstrates how desperate he is.
Although the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-rufai, was reportedly praising Northern elders, many believe that Atiku Abubakar was his real target.
Atiku cannot be a Northern candidate because he is unknown to us and does not know them.
“It is believed that Atiku learned of his rejection, which is why he was unable to send a representative to the NEF Assembly.
Because he has not been fair to us, Atiku has not been regarded as someone who is close to the North.
“He is someone whose base is outside of the North,”
