Strong signs have surfaced that the scheduled arraignment of suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele on charges of contract inflation and breaking procurement laws has been postponed indefinitely.
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did not list the arraignment on a 20-count charge scheduled for Wednesday.
The arraignment was rescheduled at the request of the imprisoned CBN Chief, according to information obtained by xandertech in the courtroom.
According to reliable sources who spoke to our correspondent in confidence, Saadat Yaro, Emefiele’s co-accused, and the Federal Government have agreed on a plea deal.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Emefiele’s attorney Kehinde Akinlolu verified the change in the arraignment.
He stated that the Chief Judge, Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf, may most likely set a new date.
His legal team and DSS agents who used to accompany him to court were not present at the time this report was written.
The court has started hearings on other cases on the cause list in the interim.
