Posted by Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, said on Monday that he was wrong because he didn’t talk to the right people before making his controversial statement.
Because of a series of tweets he posted on Saturday, the Director of Special Projects and New Media for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council was invited by the Department of State Services. In them, he claimed that some high-ranking military officers met with the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, with the intention of carrying out a coup.
A sober-looking Fani-Kayode told journalists after he left the DSS headquarters in Abuja that he could have been more circumspect and handled things differently in response to his invitation.
The former minister said he was encouraged by the fact that he had nothing to hide, despite the fact that he acknowledged that he was questioned for five hours by DSS agents who were evidently prepared for him.
He also said that the security company asked him to come back on Wednesday and once every two weeks until the investigation was over.
I believe it is up to them to decide whether they feel the need to take a more aggressive stance and bring me to a court or whether they believe I have not committed any wrongdoing. Nevertheless, I believe it is appropriate for me to mention a few things during the discussion. It should come as no surprise that some of the statements were regrettable, in my opinion.
“Why do I state this? Even if something is true about the news, like a meeting with Army officers, one might not have just believed and accepted it.
“Perhaps an alternative course of action could have been to say, “Let me ask the authorities privately.” Before I say anything, let me try to find out. Given that they pointed out that the medium was actually faceless, I think I would agree that we sometimes need to be more cautious. As a result, we cannot rely on such things.
Naturally, whenever I post something on Twitter, it appears as though the entire world is listening. Additionally, it appears that what I said really shocked a number of individuals, causing them great harm. It’s unfortunate, in my opinion, that that was chosen. When things don’t go as planned, I’m the first to admit it.
