Posted by President Muhammadu Buhari has been harshly criticized by Kano State Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje for ignoring the Supreme Court’s order and continuing to ban old Naira notes.
“President Buhari should remember that several times he was trying to contest Presidency but he couldn’t make it until there was an alliance, but now after enjoying everything, he turned back against the same democratic system that saw him to office,” Ganduje was asked in the vernacular in an audio recording.
He said, “The President should keep in mind that this is a democratic setting that allows leaders to listen to advice and follow it strictly.”
“What did we do to him that he is this ignorant on several advice that was sent to him?” I asked. “I wonder why the President is hellbent in making the same Party that helped him win elections to lose.”
“This is the same Buhari who ran for office multiple times, but he could not win until there was an alliance. Now that he wins and wins for the second term, he wants to cripple the same party that brought him to power. Why is this?
“Why didn’t the President bring this Currency Swap Policy seven and a half years ago or after the elections? Now, one must be forced to believe an ulterior motive exists in the whole thing.”
The CBN Governor, Goodwin Emefiele, was somehow exonerated by Ganduje, who stated, “The CBN Governor doesn’t know anything; With this policy, you have now set the Nation Apex Bank on fire.
The Governor was concerned that the President had ignored advice from the World Bank, IMF, and other financial institutions to reconsider the negative policy.
