Tuesday saw the swearing-in of four high court justices, which was presided over by Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, the governor of Katsina State.
Nuraddeen Abdulmumini, Halima Lawal Bagiwa, Abdullahi Bara’u Faskari, and Maa’ruf Amiru Sanusi are the four new judges.
Radda claimed that their superior professional backgrounds, steadfast commitment, and integrity warranted their appointment after a careful and thorough vetting procedure.
He exhorted the new judges to see their positions as sacred calls to duty that required unflinching professionalism, unshakable loyalty, and obedience to their moral compass.
Speaking at the event, Radda also gave the State Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring and Coordination Committee a firm order to make sure that all criminal cases were handled correctly.
Governor Radda challenged the state judiciary with addressing the need for careful case management within the State’s legal system in light of the rising cases of suspects being released despite significant accusations.
Radda emphasized the significance of holding the legal community accountable, but she also expressed worry about instances in which alleged bandits, terrorists, armed robbers, and rapists were given bail, noting that such actions contributed to the rise in kidnappings, abductions, and the tragic loss of innocent lives.
Radda also noted that certain NBA members appeared to be using the cause of fundamental human rights to further their own interests. She warned that such behavior must not be let to endanger the State’s persistent pursuit of justice and security.
Governor Radda presented intentions to change the Katsina State Administration of Criminal Justice Law of 2021 and the Katsina State Penal Code Law from the same year in order to improve the effectiveness of justice administration in the State.
